Reflexology is a complementary therapy based on a simple principle: reflex points, found most famously on the feet, correspond to every system in the body. I apply precise, gentle pressure to these points to encourage deep relaxation and support your body's own capacity to rebalance. Clients come to me to ease stress and tension, sleep better, recover from demanding weeks, or simply claim an hour of complete stillness. It works alongside conventional healthcare, never instead of it.
-
No. Some reflex points can feel tender, which tells me something useful, but I always adapt the pressure to you. Most clients describe it as deeply relaxing.
-
A fair question, and no. I work with medium to firm, precise pressure rather than very light strokes, so even the most ticklish feet settle within the first minute.
-
Only shoes and socks for foot reflexology. Everything else stays on, so just wear whatever you're comfortable in.
-
We start with a consultation covering your health history, lifestyle and what you'd like from reflexology, then I move into a full treatment. Chat, ask questions or say nothing at all. Tell me everything relevant, however minor it seems; it all helps me tailor your treatment.
-
Many people feel a real benefit from a single treatment, but reflexology tends to work cumulatively. A short course of weekly or fortnightly sessions is often where my clients notice the biggest shift. We review together as we go, and I'll never book you in for more than you need.
-
It's suitable for most people. A small number of situations need treatment adapted or postponed, which is exactly what your initial consultation is for. If you're pregnant, recovering from surgery or managing a significant health condition, mention it when you book.
-
No. Reflexology is a complementary therapy, not a substitute for medical care. I don't diagnose, prescribe or treat medical conditions, and I'll always encourage you to see your GP about anything that concerns you.

Most people leave lighter, calmer and ready for their best night's sleep in a while. Occasionally the body responds more noticeably for a day or two, perhaps feeling tired, thirsty or emotional. It's normal, it passes quickly, and it usually means the treatment has done its work.

Don't rush to or from your appointment if you can help it. Drink plenty of water afterwards, take the evening gently, and notice how you feel over the next couple of days.
-
The clinic has best availability evenings and weekends. Perfect for treatments after weary workdays!

Please note: dogs live at this property.
Treatments take place in my home, which is shared with two friendly dogs. They are kept out of the treatment room during all appointments and the room is cleaned regularly; however, as with any home with pets, traces of dander may be present elsewhere in the property. If you have a dog allergy, asthma or other sensitivity that may be affected, or a fear of dogs, please tell me before booking so we can discuss whether the setting is right for you. By attending your appointment, you confirm you have read and understood this notice and accept that Mindful Balance | Reflexology by Tom cannot be held responsible for reactions arising from pet allergies or sensitivities not disclosed in advance.

Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 48 hours' notice - you can do this via your booking confirmation, WhatsApp or email, free of charge.
Cancellations or changes made within 48 hours of your appointment, and missed appointments, will be charged at the full treatment price. This isn't intended to be punitive - as a small independent practice, late cancellations mean a slot another client could have used goes unfilled.
If you're unwell or something genuinely unavoidable comes up, please get in touch as early as you can, I'll always be as fair as circumstances allow.

Yes. Reflexology can be a lovely support during pregnancy, but not in the first trimester. As a precaution, I don't treat clients who are under 13 weeks pregnant, or who may be in the very early stages of pregnancy. This is standard professional practice and simply errs on the side of caution during the most delicate stage of pregnancy.
From the second trimester onwards, I'm happy to treat you with an adapted session - please let me know you're pregnant when booking, and mention it on your consultation form, so I can tailor the treatment appropriately.
In addition, I offer pre-ovulation treatments for those on a conception journey, and natural labour treatments to support relaxation and readiness from full term - please get in touch to find out more.
If you're unsure of your dates or have any pregnancy complications, please check with your midwife or GP before booking.
